BP Turns To Google

"BURLINGAME, Calif. -- Amid a confusing and prolonged oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, many people are turning to sites like Google and its YouTube video site to help explain the ongoing environmental disaster. BP, the energy company responsible for the leaking oil well, is doing the same.

BP ( BP - news - people ) is buying online advertising in an attempt to reach people searching with generic terms like 'oil spill.' The number of searches for this phrase has soared 150 times over since the spill happened, according to Google Trends."
